Delicious Gluten Friendly Beer

Rizzla Rice Lager is an easy drinking Asian style lager made with a blend of barley, rice, hops, water and yeast. Brewed using rice properly, for flavour rather than filler, bittered with classic northern brewer hops to balance the rice sweetness.  We also use an enzyme during fermentation which significantly reduces the gluten in this brew. We have had two independent tests done, on two separate batches, by the good folks at White Labs and the Seibel Institute.  These tests have shown that we’ve managed to reduce the gluten to under ten parts of gluten per million, which is below the recommended threshold (<20ppm) of gluten for those with gluten allergies and intolerances. Every batch is also tested twice in the same manner. Please note, we are brewers, not doctors.  Please consult a physician if you have any concerns before consuming. You might ask what does gluten friendly mean? As we initially produce this beer with a gluten product (barley) and later reduce the gluten during fermentation, we aren't able to call this beer gluten free, but gluten friendly or gluten reduced. Another aspect of BC that has been sticking its neck out in recent years is the explosion of local distilleries and craft breweries. This trend is showing no signs of slowing down and you can see this on every shelf of our beer sections. We also carry a ton of luxurious liquids direct from the various award winning local distilleries and breweries in B.C. This includes all kinds of alcohol from beer to spirits, gin to whiskey, and even some pretty crazy small batch moonshine. Did you know that Springs Group also makes its own local craft beer? Many people don't know this, so we wanted to introduce you to some creative, small batch beers of our own. Just swing by any of our 11 lower mainland locations to grab a taste of some truly, one of a kind, home grown suds. Fill your growlers; eat a burger.

Explore BC Highway #7

There is a little known route that runs East to West from Hope to Coquitlam, which is often overlooked as it's located somewhat off the beaten path. Most travelers are pre-occupied by blasting through the Fraser Valley on the Trans Canada Hwy. But, if you have a little extra time and want to see a little more of what Southern BC has to offer, consider the #7 Lougheed Highway. This route is affectionately known as The Scenic 7. Scenic 7 Website The Scenic 7 is a - ahem - scenic and low-key BC highway that follows the mighty Fraser River along its northern banks. The Trans Canada #1 leaves the mountains and straddles large population centres like Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley. However, the Scenic 7 Hwy avoids these areas by hugging the North Shore Mountains all the way from Hope through Mission, Maple Ridge and eventually Coquitlam.

Your Best Resource for All Things Along the Scenic #7 Highway

Hope, Harrison Hot Springs, Agassiz & Kent, Mission, Maple Ridge and Coquitlam all have attractions and activities available to choose from. The Mission Springs brew pub was featured at #1 in a recent article posted to the official Scenic 7 website. The post was titled, The Top 7 Restaurants to Warm you in Winter on the Scenic 7. In the spirit of togetherness, we're assuming this list is 'in no particular order' as there are some incredible eateries all along the #7 featured in this article. However, it really is an honour to have been mentioned and they even made a little featurette video of us; so kind!

Next Time, Take a Detour

Next time you're cruising out the #1 on your way to Hope and beyond, consider the Lougheed Highway. Or, an even better name; The Scenic #7.
